Hour of Code and more

Today, we rocked a Math assessment on Topic 5!  We all showed that we understand the difference between odd and even numbers, that we can compare numbers using "less than" and "greater than", and that we can use data charts to solve word problems.  Way to go, second grade!

We also are continuing to grow as nonfiction readers and writers.  In reading, we are entering a bend of the unit in which we will begin reading MORE THAN ONE book on a topic.

Up until now, we have been devouring non-fiction books of our choosing from the Dalton Library.  Students asked for books on everything from motorcycles, plants, sewing, and stingrays to robots, submarines, baby animals and holidays!

Now, we will start to dig deep into one topic of our choosing.  We have sets of multiple books on a variety of topics, to keep the energy flowing.
We ended the day today with an "hour of code".  We used the "kodable" app... please let me know if you'd like details!

There are only a few days left in our food drive... please remember to send in any non-perishable items that you'd like to donate.

Remember... BOC tomorrow!  Please dress kiddos in layers, and remember cold weather gear.  Also, please pack a bagged lunch and easy snack.
Thanks!
